Hey guys, just logged with my wife's ID to check if you have any news. I would hope that Apple do respond on this issue, as I also have an issue with NAS storage from WD and IOMEGA both of which perform atrociously (causing TimMachine to fail to work altogether) under OSX Lion on Mac Air 2013 but is faster under WIndows XP on a 5 year old laptop !! and this to me implies the issue is with Apple file system support rather than the vendors.
This thread is the most appropriate to continue the discussion on the topic, as it is already not specific to a particular hardware vendor, although WD do seem to have an issue with drivers and Mavericks as noted in othern threads. So, what large volume file system is supported to enable files to be visible under both OSX and Windows (as my MBAir has VM Fusion to run both O/S) ? No vendor specific drivers are installed. The problem is not vendor specific, but related to OSX support of the exFAT file system. It is perfectly visible on a Windows system and previous versions of OSX which did support exFAT (Mountain Lion), and files have been previously copied to it on that version.
I have a Buffalo 2TB USB drive which is formatted to exFAT,and this too fails to mount under Mavericks.
